JSW321 Zuni Butterfly

Zuni inlay butterfly pendant on four strands of hand rolled turquoise. The 2” x 2” butterfly has turquoise, spiney oyster and jet set in channel inlay. The 16” turquoise beads with silver cone ends has an adjustable chain closure for up to 20”.

Channel inlay is one of the most intricate techniques of jewelry making.  An inlay base design is made and a rim of silver is soldered around the edges.  Silver partitions are put in to form “boxes” for the cut stones to fit into.  The Zuni Indians are known for their channel inlay jewelry.
