JSW653 Philbert Begay

Sterling silver overlay cuff by Navajo silversmith Philbert Begay. The 1” cuff has dragonflies and floral overlay with four turquoise rounds for the flower centers. The inside measurement is 5 1/4" with a 1 1/4" gap.

Navajo overlay pieces are made of two layers of sterling silver. The bottom layer is a solid piece while the top layer has a cutout design. The cutout layer is placed over the bottom layer and the two pieces are fused together, heated so that they become one solid piece of sterling silver. The black oxidation highlights the silver pattern.
