JSW718 Orvil Jack Turquoise Cuff

Sterling silver cuff by Navajo silversmith Sammie Kescoli Begay.  The 1” hand stamped cuff with silver overlay has a 3/4” x 1” Orvil Jack turquoise stone. The inside is 5 1/2” with a 1” gap. Hallmark: S Kescoli

Orvil Jack discovered and developed the Mine in northern Nevada that bears his name.  The mine is in the Crescent Valley in the Blue Ridge area. The yellow-green color of the turquoise comes from the zinc content. Upon Orvil’s death, the mine is run by his daughter. This turquoise is highly prized and collected because of the unique color, and only a small amount is produced today.

Navajo silversmith Sammie Kescoli Begay produces some of the most beautiful traditional and deeply stamped sterling silver jewelry to be found in Navajoland. Using heavy gauge ingot silver combined quality gem grade turquoise, his pieces are unique in both quality and style. His applique work is incomparable.
