J1735 Turquoise Pendant

Sterling silver pendant by Navajo silversmith Harold Joe. The 1 3/4” x 2” applique pendant has a 2/4” x 1 1/8” Kingman turquoise. The 3/4” bale is hand stamped.

The Kingman Turquoise Mine is one of the oldest producing Turquoise mines in North America. It was discovered by Native Americans over 1000 years ago. Kingman Turquoise is known for its beautiful blue color and the mine produces many variations of blue turquoise. The mine also produces turquoise with a wonderful "Birdseye" or "Water Web" matrix pattern along with beautiful Spiderweb matrix patterns.

 About the Silversmith

Harold Joe is a Navajo silversmith from New Mexico recognized for his stamp work, wire work & the beautiful finish he gives to the metal. Whether it is the oxidized finish to give pieces an "old pawn" look or the mirror finish, he is a master of both.  He also has recognizable repeatable stamp patterns that create a very pleasing symmetrical design.

Harold frequently surrounds the stones with his signature traditional style silver work that includes stamping, twisted wire and silver drops. The bails on his pendants are large and can be worn with many different style necklaces.  Harold’s pieces are beautifully made and if set with stones are set with fine natural turquoise from Arizona.
