JSW352 Thunderbird Pendant

Coin silver pendant that was made exactly as it would have been in the 1940's. This was originally an old silver dollar that was hand forged & cut out to create the "Thunderbird". The 'ridges' of the coin are intact along the edges. Slightly domed with stamped accents. In the center is a 3/8” x 1/2” Royston turquoise cabochon. The 1 7/8” x 1 7/8” Thunderbird has a hand stamped 1/2” bale for a total length of 2 1/2”. On a 20” double black leather thong.

Falcon Trading Company was started in the early 1980s by Cowboy Bubba Shackelford in Prescott Arizona.  Bubba produced FTC jewelry for many years afterwards, until his sight began to fade from diabetes. In 2014 Bubba took on a young student at that time named Joe O'Neill, who is now the head silversmith at Falcon Trading, and works with Bubba daily to continue on the tradition of creating beautiful tufa cast ingot jewelry in the southwestern/Santa Fe style.
