Description

JSW742 Cripple Creek Turquoise Cross

Sterling silver hand stamped cross by Navajo silversmith Amy Maloney. The 2 1/4” x 2 3/4” cross with a 5/8” bale has a 3/8” x 3/4” Cripple Creek turquoise cabochon.

Miners looking for gold found the Cripple Creek turquoise deposits. The area yields some greenish turquoise and some light to dark blue turquoise with brown matrix. Cripple Creek Turquoise was originally found primarily as a by-product of gold mining, as were many of the Colorado Turquoise mining claims. There are several Turquoise claims in the Cripple Creek district.
